Count Yourself In - 2017 Municipal Census

WHEN?
April 3 - June 1, 2017

HOW?
A PIN number will be hand-delivered to your door and it is unique to your residence. Watch for the bright green notice titled “Count Yourself In”. Visit fortsask.ca/census and use your PIN number to login to the census page and complete a simple survey.

WHAT?
The questions include:

  • number of residents in the home
  • age and gender
  • employment status and location
  • length of residence in this municipality

WHY?
The census ensures the City of Fort Saskatchewan receives its fair share of provincial grant funding to support growth and programming in our community. All information collected will be kept confidential and used only for the production of anonymous statistics.

WHAT IF I CANNOT, OR FORGET, TO DO IT ONLINE?
Starting on April 24, 2017 enumerators will visit households which have not submitted an on-line form. It will only take a few minutes of your time and all enumerators will have proper identification. You can complete the on-line survey anytime up to June 1, 2017.

Thank you in advance for Counting Yourself In online or for allowing an enumerator to collect the information at your door.

Fort Honey Bee

THERE'S A NEW BUZZ COMING TO THE COMMUNITY

Urban beekeeping is an excellent way to improve plant pollination in backyards and in the community.

The Fort Honey Bee pilot project allows residential property owners to maintain honey bee hives in their backyard. Interested residents can apply for an urban beekeeping license with the City.

Spring Street Sweeping Program

As the weather permits, City crews will begin the spring street sweeping program. Watch for signs in your area. Signs will be posted one (1) day prior to sweeping. Priorities are as follows:

  1. Highway and City arterial streets
  2. Central business district and collector streets
  3. Residential streets and paved lanes
  4. Parking lots

Crews will be working during the evening on the highways & City arterial streets.

We encourage you to sweep winter sand off your boulevard and place near the curb prior to the sweeping.

Motorists – For your protection, exercise caution when approaching the street sweeper. Watch for dust clouds and remain a safe distance behind the sweeper.

Did You Know?

Approximately 2,000 tons of material is used to sand Fort Saskatchewan roads each winter. In the spring, the City crews collect the sand that is left on our highways, main streets, collector roads and residential streets.

Up to 80% of the sand that is used during the winter is collected during spring clean up. Parks crews sweep sand, dirt and debris from City boulevards along arterials and collectors, tucking the debris into the curb areas for street sweepers to clear.

Pitch In Week

Please join us in cleaning up the neighbourhood. Pitch in Week is April 22 – 29 and we need your help. Gather some friends, a group, your sports team or organization and work together for spring cleanup. Free garbage bags are available to groups through the Public Works Office.
