In 2009, City Council adopted the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) to provide guidance for future growth and development in the downtown. The Downtown Land Use Bylaw continues the vision outlined in the DARP, and introduces 8 new land use districts to provide site specific regulations for the downtown.

The project was presented to Council on the following dates:
March 22, 2016- Request for Council Direction
April 12, 2016 - First Reading
April 26, 2016- Public Hearing and Final Readings.
