A wide variety of Seniors Services are available in the City of Fort Saskatchewan.

Home Support Services

Home Support Services are a direct service of FCSS. The services provide practical in-home support services/housekeeping services to individuals and families.

Assistance is provided on a short term basis to individuals recovering from illness or surgery and on an ongoing basis to seniors, the chronically ill and their caregivers. The cost of service is determined on a sliding fee scale based on income and family size.

Seniors Coordinator

The Seniors Coordinator will help seniors and families by providing information and referrals to appropriate agencies and services depending on your need. All services are free of charge and we will visit you in your home.

Capsule for Life Program

The Capsule for Life Program helps emergency personnel quickly learn important medical facts in times of crisis. Ambulance, Police and Fire Departments are trained to look for the “Capsule for Life” sticker on the house and refrigerator door. This symbol indicates that vital information is available to help assist them when giving treatment.

Knowing what medications or chronic medical conditions may be present is extremely important to paramedics. Kits are available at Community & Protective Services, the fire hall, and Pioneer House free of charge.

For more information please contact Tammy Lautner at the Community & Protective Services office at 780.992.6623.

Snow Removal Program

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a snow removal program to assist seniors with a disability or medical condition in the community. The program is made possible by the generosity and kindness of volunteers. If you are in need of snow removal help or would like to become a volunteer please contact Tammy Lautner at the Community & Protective Services office at 780.992.6623.

Caregiver Support Group

The Seniors Coordinator facilitates a monthly support group for caregivers who are caring for a family member that has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or other related disorder. The group may have professionals attend a group session to provide education on a variety of topics. The group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month in Pioneer House at 1:00 p.m. Please contact Tammy Lautner at 780.992.6623.

Information Fair

Is an annual event held in the fall. Utilizing educational displays, the Seniors Fair profiles and promotes a variety of services and programs specific to seniors and their needs. Please contact Tammy Lautner at the Community & Protective Services office at 780.992.6623.
