A building permit is required to construct anything new or to replace windows with larger ones, finish a basement, etc. Building permits are not required for “general maintenance” of your home (paint, re-shingle the roof, etc.). Gas, Plumbing, Electrical and Development permits may also be required. When in doubt, please contact us.

Fence
No permits are required to construct a fence, however you do need to meet specific requirements.

Building Permit Fees & Application Form

Decks
Development and Building permits are required for the construction of an uncovered deck over 0.60m (2 feet) from ground level and for a covered deck regardless of height.

Electrical Permit Fees & Application Forms

Garage or Shed
Development and Building permits are required for the construction of any accessory building (detached garages and sheds) greater than 10.0 m2 (107.6 ft2) in area.

Gas Permit Fees & Application Form

House
There are six single family residential districts each with specific regulations regarding development. A development permit is required and must be approved before the building permit can be reviewed and approved.
