He's soft, cuddly and cute. He loves kids and "big people" alike. His name is Auggie. If you have not had the opportunity to meet Auggie, our lovable mascot, then you are missing a very warm experience. Adults and children flock to hug, touch and be near this cuddly sheep who helps tie together our colourful past and vibrant present.
Auggie's full name is Augustus. It comes from "Fort Augustus", the North West Company fur trading post that was established in 1795 in this area. Auggie is a sheep because of our maintenance program which uses sheep to maintain some of the green spaces in our community.
Fort Saskatchewan has gained international recognition as the first community, in recent years, to utilize this unique program. The sheep established the Fort as a creative urban centre specializing in a "country estate" style living. Auggie continues this commitment to an environmentally friendly, dynamic family community, for today and into the future.
Auggie makes guest appearances at many events throughout the year, from the Trade Show & Sale, to Canada Day, to the Farmer's Market opening.
