River Valley

Fort Saskatchewan is fortunate to be located adjacent to the North Saskatchewan River which is why we enjoy many water related activities. Take your boat or canoe for a cruise on the North Saskatchewan River from Red Coat Landing or enjoying a leisurely stroll along our riverbanks, we have it all!

For swimmers, take a dip or swim lessons at Harbour Pool, visit the Lions outdoor pool or the Kin Family Spray Park located in Pryce Alderson Park.

In Fort Saskatchewan, there's always a lot to do. Enjoy water activities in these facilities listed below, or check out other recreation programs and facilities.
In the early 1960's, local resident and boating enthusiast, Al Strachan, built a private dock at the river's edge where he could design, construct and operate cruise boats. To honour this prominent local citizen who passed away in the late 1980's, the City erected a viewing platform near that location in 1995.  Strachan's Landing now offers local residents and visitors a panoramic view of the river.

In 2005 Strachan's Landing was expanded to include a paved pathway down to the river and a boat dock.
