CO-OP's Movie Under the Stars!
A Celebration of Canadian Talent
The votes have been counted and in a very close race, Shrek was chosen as the movie the residents of Fort Saskatchewan want to see on Friday, August 18th for the 5th annual CO-OP’s Movie Under the Stars. Shrek took the top spot with 27.64% of the votes and Finding Dory was a close second with 24.65%. The original Ghostbusters, and Captain America: Winter Soldier came in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Over 550 votes were cast this year.
The evil Lord Farquaad banished all fairy tale creatures to Shrek’s swamp. Join Shrek and his new friend Donkey in their quest to regain solitude in Shrek’s home. In exchange for getting his quiet swamp back, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue Princess Fiona, who is destined to be lord’s bride. Shrek has captured the hearts of movie lovers both young and old. Mike Myers, a Canadian comedian actor, stars as Shrek.
To celebrate Canada’s 150 years of confederation, the theme for this year’s Movie Under the Stars is “Canadian Talent”. Canadian themed crafts, activities and movie fun will also be a part of the evening. Watch for details at fortsask.ca on how you can celebrate your favourite Canadian Talent.
“It will be a great night to get together with friends, family and neighbours and celebrate the talent of Canadians in the film industry. We hope to fill Legacy Park with people for a great show.” explains Jana Rowe, the City’s Community Event’s Specialist.There is no charge for this popular evening, so gather up your family and friends and make your way to Legacy Park. In the past, more than 1,000 people have attended the outdoor movie night, so arrive early to choose a good spot. Weather permitting, the show will start at approximately 9:15 p.m.
