Local business secures sports field naming rights
A local business, well-known as being one of the safest, most-knowledgeable and trusted General Contractors in Western Canada for industrial, commercial or residential construction, is soon to become even more well-known for another reason. Mr. Fab Loranger, owner of Taurus Projects Group Inc., has signed an agreement with the City of Fort Saskatchewan to secure the naming rights of the new high performance sports field being constructed adjacent to the Dow Centennial Centre.
“As owner of Taurus, I am very proud of our employees, their families, our community and its people. I see Taurus as being a very strong contributor to the community and in essence, we’re part of a much larger team – the Fort Saskatchewan team! We are thrilled to be part of this new sports facility and excited to be part of such a great project, right here in our community,” stated Mr. Loranger.

Opening Spring 2018, the facility has an artificial turf field to support football, field hockey, field lacrosse and soccer. The site will boast four change rooms for players, official’s change rooms, washroom facilities, an administration office and storage area, a concession, a ticket booth and seating for approximately 1000 spectators. The field will be owned and operated by the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
User groups will be able to book the field for use starting next May. The facility will be home to our local high school and minor football teams but is designed to host a variety of games, tournaments, and events. This FIFA size artificial turf gives the City of Fort Saskatchewan an opportunity to host elite level competitions such as provincial and national championships in football and soccer.
An official naming ceremony will take place with Taurus, local sports teams and other representatives towards the end of September. The total cost of the project is $9.6M.
