Steady growth for Fort Saskatchewan

2018 municipal census shows a positive sign of continued growth in the City

The 2018 municipal census in now complete, and the population of Fort Saskatchewan is 26,328 – an increase of 3.11% over last year. All 11,179 properties in the City were accounted for, 50% of whom submitted their census online.

“The City of Fort Saskatchewan has become a community of choice thanks to our high quality of life and our small town feel with big city state-of-the-art amenities,” said Mayor, Gale Katchur “I am pleased to see our growth trend is continuing and that more people are choosing to call Fort Saskatchewan home.”

The top three dwelling types constructed were single detached, semi-detached and row housing with most of the new construction happening in the Southfort and Westpark areas.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan will use the census results for planning and applying for government funding.

A final version of the census report will be available to residents in August.
