Return of the Sheep on June 1st

The Legacy Park Family Festival returns on June 1. Celebrating 27 years of grazing in Fort Saskatchewan, we officially welcome back our beloved SHEEP! Our sheep friends will begin arriving at 11:30 am. Come say hello to our flock as they parade up from the river valley trail system to their summer home at the Fort Heritage Precinct.

Is there a better sign of spring than the return of the sunny blooms of Taraxacum or dandelions as we like to call them? Have you ever wondered why we call them dandelions? It is because the serrated leaves look like a lion’s teeth. This year, due to the very dry spring conditions, we are enjoying an abundance of dandelions, as are our neighbours. The severe lack of moisture in the ground has kept the grass somewhat dormant which allows dandelions to thrive.

Waste Audits Have Started

Our waste team has resumed daily audits of curbside waste set out for collection.

Last year, we focused on green organics carts, this year our audits will include:

  • contaminated green organics carts,
  • overflowing black garbage carts, and
  • contamined blue recycling bags.

Our primary focus is still on education and helping all our residents succeed with the new waste program.

Council approved the 2018 Annual Report and the 2018 Consolidated Audited Financial Statements on April 23.

2018 Operating Highlights included in the Annual Report are:
