Council approves the addition of an electric local bus

The City of Fort Saskatchewan received a total of $163,750 in provincial dollars from the ACT (Alberta Community Transit) Fund to be allocated toward the purchase of a new electric bus equipped with Smart Bus technology. City Council voted in favour to amend the original capital budget request to include the purchase of an electric bus at a cost of $397,500.

West River's Edge Dog Park Pond

Due to the prolonged cold weather this winter, the pond at the Off Leash Dog Park is experiencing winter kill. The fish became trapped in the thick ice and snow cover causing oxygen deprivation.

The City is removing the dead fish along the shore and in the water as the ice recedes.

For the safety and comfort of all, please keep children and pets away from the area until further notice.

The City is working closely with Alberta Fish and Wildlife and will continue to monitor and clean up when required.

This is Mary Ann Kostiuk’s third year being a part of the Fort Saskatchewan Canada Day Committee. With a background in media, Mary Ann focuses on the marketing and communications for the event. First Quarter Air Quality Health Index Results Released

Fort Air Partnership (FAP), the organization that monitors the air local residents breathe, released 2019 first quarter Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) results today. The Government of Alberta calculates the AQHI using data collected at FAP’s air monitoring stations. Results show air quality in and around Alberta’s Industrial Heartland was of low risk to health the majority of the time from January 1 to March 31, 2019.
