Fort Saskatchewan’s Shepherds Retire to Greener Pastures

For twenty-eight years, Kathy and Ralph Playdon’s flock of Finnsheep have been an essential part of a Fort Saskatchewan summer. This year, however, marks the last year City residents will see the Brightbank Finnsheep shepherds and their woolly lawnmowers in the City of Fort Saskatchewan. The Playdons are retiring as the City’s Sheep Grazing Program contractors in September and will be greatly missed by residents and tourists alike.

Kendell is an incredibly kind and generous person. Since moving into SouthPointe, he has taken it upon himself to shovel snow for everyone in our four-plex of townhouses (as well as others) during the winter, and mow everyone's lawns in the summer. He is friendly to everyone he meets in the neighbourhood, making himself available to lend a hand when needed, have a solid conversation, and just keep an eye on things to ensure that this place we call home is safe and secure.

Summer camps, arenas and Harbour Pool

Re-opening plan updates

Indoor and outdoor recreation is in Stage 2 of re-opening and the City of Fort Saskatchewan continues to work on safe reopening plans for day camps, arenas and Harbour Pool as the province updates the provincial guidelines for all activities.

Summer day camps are available for campers ages 6-10. They will run July 27 – August 21. Registration opens on Monday, July 20. Register at fortsask.ca/GoLeisure. Spots are limited due to health guidelines.
