Fort Saskatchewan welcomes new Fire Chief

The City of Fort Saskatchewan welcomes Todd Martens as the new Fire Chief today. Martens was the Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief in Hinton, a position he has held for the last six years.

“I am very impressed with his leadership attributes and commitment to fire services as well as his care and compassion for those he leads,” says Heather Cowie, General Manager for Community and Protective Services.

Some recreation options will open on February 16

On Saturday, February 6, the Provincial Government announced new measures just days before the Step 1: A Path Forward was to commence on February 8. The City had previously announced that recreation centres would not re-open in Step 1 due to the tight restrictions and the impact would be minimal for users.

The City is moving to paperless billing to reduce paper printing

In an effort to reduce both the environmental impact of paper printing and the costs associated with mailing monthly utility bills, the City of Fort Saskatchewan is moving to paperless billing effective April 1, 2021.

First Virtual State of the City Address Presented Today

The annual State of the City Address provided at the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce luncheon each year on the first Wednesday of February, went ahead as planned but the delivery was a little different. The mayor joined the virtual meeting as did all members of City Council via Zoom.
