Grants for Non-Profit Organizations 2022

The City of Fort Saskatchewan recognizes the important contributions our local non-profit organizations make to our community. If you are a local non-profit and have a community program, event or initiative that you would like to have considered for funding, you may submit a grant application to the City for consideration in the 2022 budget year.

Council approved the 2020 Annual Report on April 27 and the report has been posted on the City’s website.

In 2020, the City’s operations were significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting public health orders and safety measures required to mitigate the impacts to the public. For the first time in 28 years, the City of Fort Saskatchewan Sheep Grazing Program will herd in new shepherds. At the end of last season, long time shepherds Kathy and Ralph Playdon retired. Enter the Steinbusch family.

New Transfer Station Facility Construction Begins

Current transfer station will remain open during construction with some service changes

New Transfer Station and Recycle Depot is scheduled to open for full operations late 2021 or early 2022. The current site will stay open during construction 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm, excluding statutory holidays.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Respond to Knife Complaint

On Monday, April 19th, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP were called to a complaint of a male with a large knife pacing back and forth outside an apartment building in the downtown area. RCMP members responded immediately and were able to locate this male. After initial conversations with him, it was clear that he was agitated, and possibly suffering from a Mental Health episode.
