Dandelions. Friend or Foe?

Is there a better sign of spring than the return of the sunny blooms of Taraxacum or dandelions as we like to call them? Have you ever wondered why we call them dandelions? It is because the serrated leaves look like a lion’s teeth. This year, due to the very dry spring conditions, we are enjoying an abundance of dandelions, as are our neighbours. Waste Audits Have Started

Our waste team has resumed daily audits of curbside waste set out for collection.

Last year, we focused on green organics carts, this year our audits will include:

• contaminated green organics carts,
• overflowing black garbage carts, and
• contamined blue recycling bags.

Our primary focus is still on education and helping all our residents succeed with the new waste program.

Local Artist Selected for 2019 Art in Public Places Program

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is thrilled to announce the artwork and artist selected for the 2019 Art in Public Places Program. 

The Art in Public Places artist for 2019 is Shirley Yakimets.  Shirley is a resident of Fort Saskatchewan and has been a member of the Fort Saskatchewan Pottery Guild for over 46 years.
