Name the New Fire Trucks

The City of Fort Saskatchewan and its Fire Department are welcoming two brand new fire trucks to their fleet very soon.
The Fire Department is seeking help from the community in naming these new fire trucks. The contest will be open to children who reside in Fort Saskatchewan, aged 5-12 (elementary school). Each qualified child can submit two names, one for each truck and contest activity. Winning names will then be voted on by the general public.

Tourism Hosting Grant Awarded to Fort Saskatchewan Rebels Major Lacrosse Club

The Fort Saskatchewan Rebels Major Lacrosse Club has been awarded $500 for hosting the upcoming Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League North Division Tier 1 Draft. This will be held February 8 at Fort Saskatchewan Community Hall, Normandy Room. This draft is expecting a crowd of 200 players, parents, coaches and fans in attendance. Rebels Major Lacrosse had an exciting 2019 season and is looking to build from that success for 2020.

Youth Council and the Youth Action Committee are looking for members
We're recruiting members for the Youth Council and Youth Action Committee. Both groups are a way for local youth to get involved in the community. The Youth Action Committee is about being involved and participating in various projects, and the Youth Council is about raising awareness of issues relevant to youth living in Fort Saskatchewan.

Temporary Overnight Warming Centre Opening

A coalition of community churches and agencies met with the City of Fort Saskatchewan to determine what resources could be enacted quickly to provide a warm place to sleep for Fort Saskatchewan’s homeless during this extreme cold weather.

Recycling Collection Cancelled

Recycling collection is cancelled today, Wednesday, January 15, due to the extreme cold temperatures.
Collection will not be rescheduled. Residents are able to put unlimited quantities of recycling out next week for collection or bring their items to the Recycle Depot anytime for free. Since today appears to be the only day reaching -40, the contractor isn’t anticipating any further delays or cancellations this week. Resident have been notified via the Fort Sask Waste app.
