Black Knot (Apiosporina morbosa) is a fungal disease that causes swellings called galls in the stems of many tree species such as Mayday, Choke Cherry, Apricots, Plums and others. The galls start as greenish-brown and eventually turn black. Spores are released from the galls and spread by wind, rain, birds and insects.

Motorists are reminded to be extra vigilant when driving through or turning at an intersection, or when approaching or turning across marked crosswalks. The safety of vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, is of great importance as mistakes leading to collisions can have dire consequences.

Trail Conditions and Closures

Some trail sections around the City are experiencing Spring flooding and icy sections from overnight temperature drops. Signage will be placed on affected trails and trail users are advised to use caution.

Trail sections that are currently most affected are behind Greenfield Way and the Highway trail between 84 Street and Highway 15.

The pedway trail over Highway 15 is also CLOSED due to a water break, crews are working on this area.

Sending garbage and plastic items to the composting facility negatively impacts operations and budget.
