The City Fort Saskatchewan is an inclusive community that welcomes everyone. The city will unveil its first rainbow crosswalk in a colourful celebration with attendance from Mayor Gale Katchur; Members of Fort Saskatchewan City Council; Kristi Wahl, Youth and Family Coordinator; representatives from the altView Foundation and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community (our guests will be available to media). Last Sunday, September 1 at 3:45pm, a neighbour overheard a fire alarm system from an adjacent property. The neighbour immediately called 911. A fire engine was dispatched and were on scene within only a few short minutes to the Southpointe neighbourhood.

Volunteers of the Fort Saskatchewan Historical Society took on a big job this summer – the restoration of the old gaol (jail) cemetery. The white crosses in this small cemetery mark the final resting place for inmates who died while serving time at the Provincial Gaol. The graves are unidentified, their names lost to history. The cemetery was a place to bury people whose families could not, or would not claim them. It was originally located further west with a list and map to identify all buried...

In May of this year The City of Fort Saskatchewan hired Key Planning Strategies, Colliers International and Keyfax Market Research to conduct a city-wide retail market and gap analysis. A consumer intercept survey in May allowed residents to provide their insights on retail shopping in Fort Saskatchewan. The last retail market and gap analysis was completed in 2016.
