The City of Fort Saskatchewan endeavours to keep residents and visitors up-to-date about ongoing City construction projects.

112th Street Widening

 •  Design is complete
 •  Tender has closed and a contractor has been selected
 •  112th Street from 108 St to Hwy 15 will be closed starting September 19. The closure will remain for the duration of construction, which is scheduled to be complete by the middle of October.

Bulk Water Modernization

 •  Tender has closed and bids are being evaluated


City Hall Lower Level

 •  The lower level at City Hall is being developed into office space
 •  Framing is completed and electrical rough-ins are underway along with plumbing and HVAC work. Drywall will follow.


Dog Kennel

 •  Dog Kennel will be located at the Protective Services Building
 •  Interior and exterior finishing work is underway
 •  Work is expected to be complete in September


Gymnastics Centre Parking Lot

 •  Tender to rehabilitate the Gymnastics Centre parking lot closed and a contractor has been selected.
 •  Work is expected to start in September and take one month to complete


Hwy 15 & 119 Street Intersection

 •  Design is complete and construction to start in September
 •  Tender has closed and a contractor has been selected


Highway 15 Bridge Twinning

 •  Alberta Transportation is leading this project
 •  Work continues on the west side of the North Saskatchewan River
 •  Work is underway on the portion of Hwy 15 within the City of Fort Saskatchewan limits.
 •  Fort Centre Park Trail Closures in effect August 26, 2019 - October 1, 2022

Local Road Rehab

 •  Project locations for the 2020 Local Road Rehab program have been finalized.
 •  All asphalt work is complete.
 •  Line painting is complete on the highway and 101 Street
 •  Minor deficiency work will be taking place in September


Neighbourhood Rehab – 101 Street

 •  Work to replace water, sewer and road infrastructure from 101 Ave to 99 Ave
 •  Work has been deferred to 2021


Neighbourhood Rehab – 108 Street

 •  Design work to replace water, sewer and road infrastructure on 108 Street from 101 Ave to the end of 108 Street will start in 2020. Construction is scheduled for 2021.


Old Gaol Bridge Rail Replacement

 •  Tender is posted for a contractor to replace the railing on the Old Gaol Bridge. The project has been awarded.
 •  Work is expected to start in September 


Pointe Aux Pins Road Widening

 •  The project will widen Point Aux Pins road from Wilshire Blvd to Range Road 231. This will bring the road up to the City’s urban standard and provide an asphalt trail on the north side of the road.
 •  Design work is complete
 •  Tender for construction is closed and a contractor has been selected
 •  Clearing of the brush is complete
 •  Stripping is complete. Final grading for the road base is underway
 •  Surface works is starting next week


Sportsplex Ice Plant Replacement

 •  Contractor has been hired to replace the ice plant. Ice plant is scheduled to be replaced in late September.
 •  Tender for room modifications to the ice plant room has closed and a contractor has been selected. Work will be taking place in September


Southview Way Road Extension

 •  Southview Way is located between Heartland Ford and the future Fire Hall. The road will be extended approximately 120m to the South
 •  Surface work is complete
 •  Street lights still need to be completed by Fortis


Sump Pump Retrofit Program

 •  Work has been deferred to 2021


Veterans Way Corridor Widening

 •  Detailed design work to add an additional lane on Highway 15 from 101 Street to the Highway 15/21 intersection is underway.
