Snowplow Safety

Safety is the city’s #1 priority

  • Never pass a snowplow on the right hand side unless the operator stops or slows down and signals you to pass.
  • Be careful and keep a safe distance (30 metres) from any snowplow, grader or truck and loader during snow removal.
  • Observe the signs posted or follow the directions of the crew.

Everyone Can Help After A Heavy Snowfall

  • Watch for snow removal signs, they will be posted 72 hours before plowing in residential and central business district areas.
  • Avoid parking vehicles on the street when a snowplow is expected.
  • Park in your driveway whenever possible.
  • Keep unused vehicles off the street as it is difficult to plow around them.

As per Bylaw C4-10 it is unlawful to deposit snow or ice onto the streets. A map of snow removal routes can be found on the City website at

Slippery Conditions on Trails & Sidewalks

Water drainage in some areas of the City can create slippery sections on the trails and sidewalks. Known sections of the trails that are icy have been marked with signs. Please use caution if traversing these sections of trail. Seasonal snowfall & ice can also cause trails and sidewalks to be slippery. Please be mindful when out walking.

The Recreational Trail System map or the Trail Snow Clearing and Ski Trail map can be found at:
