Celebrate all of the fun of sheep with trivia, pictures, videos and more

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is celebrating Sheep Week for the week of August 26 to September 1. The City’s social media outlets are filled with sheep facts, pictures, crafts and highlights of our favourite woolly friends. Using #SheepWeek, you too can get involved on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Enter our #sheepie contest to win a great prize. Submit a photo with you and any sheep (real or fake – get creative!) and share it on social media with the hashtag #sheepie. Winner will be chosen on Tuesday, September 3rd.

To end off Sheep Week, join in the Sheep leaving Parade on Monday, September 2, at 11:00 am. Our warm and fuzzy flock will lead a parade of sheep fans and followers from the sheep’s corral at the Fort Heritage Precinct through downtown and back to the Fort Heritage Precinct. It’s how we say “farewell until next year” to our four-legged lawn mowers.

Before the parade, everyone is invited to get a head start on the festivities at the large gazebo within the Fort Heritage Precinct with a scavenger hunt, wool spinning demonstrations by the Alberta Yarn Project, and feeding the sheep starting at 10:00 am. Make sure you capture the priceless moments with our beloved sheep.
