Residents advised to stay off roads unless absolutely necessary

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is currently responding to a heavy snowfall event. City staff are working to respond to all inquiries impacting the safety of residents, in a safe and timely manner. Please use Fortreport to inform the City of hazards in your area.

City crews will clear snow on major highways, arterials and collectors roads before it starts on residential areas. Once City park crews are finished clearing City buildings and medians they’ll focus to clear bus stops, sidewalks, trails and outdoor ice surfaces.

Due to the heavy snowfall residents are advised:

  • The Highway 15 bridge is now open as stop and go.
  • To expect delays on local and commuter transit services. (Route 580 to Edmonton is temporarily detoured to highway 21)
  • Friday garbage collection is delayed until road conditions improve. Please keep materials out for collection, trucks will resume their routes when it’s safe to do so.

The City thanks residents for their patience, and for their assistance while it works to clear roads, walkways and trails.
