Stay Safe While Trick-or-Treating

The City of Fort Saskatchewan would like to remind children and their parents to stay safe while Trick-or-Treating.

  • Carry a flashlight so you can see and been seen
  • Stay on sidewalks
  • Stay on one side of the street until you can cross safely at a crosswalk and walk facing traffic
  • Don’t cut across yards or driveways
  • Ensure your costume has reflective pieces so you’re visible to traffic
  • Wear a mask that doesn’t block with your vision or hearing – or wear make-up instead
  • Travel with a cohort of friends, family, and stay in familiar neighborhoods
  • Dress warm for cooler temperatures

Drivers should:

  • Drive sober
  • Slow down and watch for children using crosswalks or walking on the road
  • Not wear a costume while driving. It can impede your vision, your hearing and your ability to drive

The Government of Alberta has also prepared resources for Albertans to celebrate the spookiest time of the year without the fear of spreading COVID-19.

Fort Saskatchewan is a Vision Zero community and asks, “What are you doing to make our roads safer?” For more information on Vision Zero please visit fortsask.ca/visionzero
