Fort Saskatchewan welcomes new Fire Chief

The City of Fort Saskatchewan welcomes Todd Martens as the new Fire Chief today. Martens was the Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief in Hinton, a position he has held for the last six years.

“I am very impressed with his leadership attributes and commitment to fire services as well as his care and compassion for those he leads,” says Heather Cowie, General Manager for Community and Protective Services.

Martens has 22 years of experience in emergency services as a firefighter and EMT in Alberta and B.C. During his career, he continued to rise through the ranks in emergency services with progressive leadership roles including a deputy fire chief with the Regional District of East Kootenay and seven years in Fort McMurray as a Firefighter and EMT.

“I am really excited about my new opportunity with the City of Fort Saskatchewan. Working in collaboration with the different city departments and groups throughout the community is something I am looking forward to. It is important to me to build relationships and comradery while focusing on leading an outstanding team to keep things moving forward.”
