Councillor Ajibola (Jibs) Abitoye was elected as Councillor for the City of Fort Saskatchewan in October 2017.

Jibs was born in Lagos, Nigeria to a Journalist father and an Information Technology mum. She moved to Fort Saskatchewan in 2012 after getting married to her husband, Joshua. They are blessed with two sons, Timi and Diji. Jibs has a bachelor’s of science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and certified as a Project Management Professional. She also completed a 4th class power engineering course at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).

Jibs’ previous work experience include Financial Services Representative at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Project Cost Controller at Dow Chemical and Credit Risk Analyst at the Guaranty Trust Bank.

She is a blogger, adventurer, fashion enthusiast and she loves to dance. She also loves to spend time with her family and enjoys watching soccer with her husband.

Jibs has volunteered on the Family & Community Support Services Board, Navy League Cadet and as Chair of the Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association.

Jibs is an active member on the City's various municipal boards and is currently Council representative on the following boards:

  • Community Events Grants Committee
  • Edmonton Region Waste Advisory Committee
  • Fort Saskatchewan Public Library Board
