Every cat/dog owned by a resident of Fort Saskatchewan must be licensed according to the Animal Control Bylaw.
A pet license:
- Will help to reunite missing pets with their owner.
- Will help the City determine what amenities are needed for pet owner's public enjoyment such as off leash dog parks and kennel services.
Licensing periods run from January – December of each calendar year.
The only other domestic animals allowed within the City of Fort Saskatchewan are rabbits and pigeons (four maximum) and they must be confined, and meet the standards of care within the bylaw.

Step 1: Create a Cityview Portal Account
- Follow the instruction to create a Cityview Portal account. Creating an account requires a valid email address.
- An email will be sent with an activation link.
- Click the activation link to activate your account and apply for your animal license.
Step 2: Apply for a license
- Follow the link that was sent to you in the activation email.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click on "Apply for a NEW Animal License".
- Follow the instructions to complete the eight step application.

Animal License Renewals require your email to be added to your pet license PRIOR to renewing online. Please contact 780-992-6280 or email us to update your information.

Step 1: Sign in to Cityview Portal
Step 2: Renew your license
- Click “My Items”, which can be accessed from the left hand side menu.
- Click on “My License Applications”
- If more than one animal is found, click on “Add Fees to My Cart” for EACH pet.
- Add fees for all your animal licenses that require renewal.
- Click “My Shopping Cart”
- Click “Make Payment”
- Follow the instructions to make payment.
- New Lifetime Tags will be mailed to the address on file.
