Billing and Payments

The City mails property tax notices in late May every year. Property taxes are due on or before June 30.

Please note: It is the responsibility of the property owner to contact the City for their tax information if they did not receive a property tax notice. Not receiving a tax notice (or losing a tax notice) is not accepted as a reason for late payment.

You can also receive your Property Assessment, Taxation Notices, and other taxation communications electronically.

Have you purchased a property in the City of Fort Saskatchewan in the last 6 months?

If YES, you are probably already aware of the significant delay at the Alberta Land Titles office. Consequently, we are not receiving notification about the transfer of land/properties until approximately 4 months after the transaction has been complete, and sometimes even longer. This will mean that we are not able to issue Assessment Notices and Taxation Notices to a new owner until we have received notification. Alternatively, if you provide the City with a letter from your lawyer confirming the transfer of title date, address of the property, registered owners’ names, and mailing address, we will be able to update our records.

There are a number of convenient ways for you to pay your Property taxes.

Credit Card Payments

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is pleased to be offering credit card payments for tax accounts. This service is being offered through PaySimply, a secure, third party Canadian payment provider which accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express for a convenience fee (2.5%). All fees are paid directly to PaySimply and the City of Fort Saskatchewan does not retain any portion of those fees. You will be notified of the fee amount prior to the payment being processed.

Note:

  • You will need your 7 digit tax roll account number in order to process your payment.
  • To avoid late payment penalties, please allow 3 business days for processing.
