Family Violence Prevention Month 2024

The Elephant in the Room

In November, the City of Fort Saskatchewan will host a series of events and workshops for Family Violence Prevention Month. Our theme, “The Elephant in the Room,” symbolizes the often-overlooked issue of family violence. Through workshops, public installations, and community engagement, we aim to raise awareness and provide support.

Public Installation

Dates: November 1 – Mid-November
Location: City Hall Art Nook

The installation will feature a Paper Mache Elephant, where the community can write messages to raise awareness about family violence. Crocheted purple elephants will be available for visitors to take, finalize with magnets, hooks, or brooch pins, and display at home.

Thank you to the 600+ individuals who crocheted elephants for our public installation, helping to raise awareness for Family Violence Prevention—your contributions make a powerful statement of support and solidarity.

Silhouettes with messages will be displayed in the City Hall lobby to further raise awareness.
