Everyone at Home Can Impact Your Bill

Residents are noticing higher water use

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our lives. Many of us are working from home, kids are homeschooling, and we are staying at home more based on the Provincial Governments’ health orders. For many households, this has meant an increase in water usage.

Everything from washing our hands more, to flushing the toilet and cleaning up around our homes and properties will translate to changes in your utility bill – the more water you use, the more consumption you will be billed for.

If you have noticed an increase in your bill, you can read your water meter at any time and see day to day how much water is being used. It is important to know that fixed and variable fees for water, sewer and waste have not changed since the Fees and Charges Bylaw was updated on Jan.1, 2020.

If you need help with reading your water meter or have questions about your utility bill, please call the Utility Billing Line at 780-992-6228.

In an effort to support residents and businesses during the COVID-19 response, the City of Fort Saskatchewan is waiving late fees and penalties on utility bills for the next 90 days (March 23 – June 22, 2020).We encourage all of our customers to keep accounts in good standing.  We will continue to send the utility bills each month. Please contact the City’s utility billing staff at 780-992-6228 or by email at utilityclerk@fortsask.ca as soon as possible if you need to make these arrangements.

To help residents through this difficult time, there are other financial resources as announced by the federal government:
