Facility Attendant – Dow Centennial Centre - Permanent Part-Time

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is currently recruiting for a dynamic and energetic individual to join our team at the Dow Centennial Centre. Reporting to the Dow Centennial Center Services Coordinator, the Facility Attendant will provide regular monitoring duties throughout the Dow Centennial Centre.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure safe and orderly conduct throughout the building.
  • Ensure customers have paid prior to participation in events.
  • Setup and teardown of recreation equipment, assist with meeting/banquet rooms set up & tear down and Games Den.
  • Monitor youth activities in the building including the Games Den during drop in times, birthday parties and other events as required.
  • Provide light custodial assistance.
  • Assist with minor facility and ground maintenance.
  • Maintaining positive public relations and providing assistance and information services to user groups.
  • Responding to patron concerns in a positive and polite manner.
  • Monitoring equipment and building conditions to ensure a safe recreational opportunity for clients.

Candidates must be mature individuals who possess a positive work attitude and excellent customer service skills. The ability to make practical, fair and objective decisions pertaining to customer service in order to find solutions to problems is essential. The Facility Attendants decisions impact customer satisfaction, safety, return business, and ensures the care and longevity of the facilities are maintained. Security, public relations or customer service experience would be valuable assets in this position.

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement.

Rate of Pay: $15.32 – $15.62 per hour

Hours of Work: Day, evening and weekend shifts.

Clerk II – Meter Replacement Project - Temporary Part-Time
COMP #201955

Reporting to the Revenue Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing excellent customer service for the implementation and execution of the Meter Replacement Project. This position is responsible for contacting existing utility customers regarding their water meter and water meter reading equipment and making arrangements with the Utility Operators to upgrade equipment, preparing for the new AMI Infrastructure.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contact customers via mail, phone, yellow cards and electronically, to make appointments to have their water meter replaced. (Approximately 3000 meters)
  • Schedule and/or coordinate work order appointments with designated Utility Operators using their calendars for appropriate scheduling and monitoring length of appointments to ensure scheduling is met.
  • Ensure scheduled appointments are booked in groups of neighborhoods if possible, to ensure efficiencies.
  • Handle customer request for information about our water meters and our radio reader technology.
  • Participate in workplace safety initiatives.
  • Conduct/participate in formal and informal worksite safety inspections and audits.
  • Report all incidents, including near misses, immediately to a supervisor.

A minimum of three years’ experience in providing excellent customer service. Administrative Certificate or equivalent would be an asset. Previous experience with Great Plains, Diamond Software or windows based software applications would be a definite asset. The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational skills with a strong ability to problem solve and work in a fast paced environment.

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement.

This is a temporary position with an end date dependent on the completion of the Meter Replacement Project.

Rate of Pay: $26.51 – $29.13 per hour

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Qualifications, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain minimum qualifications (Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Standard First Aid/AEC, and N.L.)--a copy of all current awards must accompany application
  • Lifeguard, Instruct, and perform maintenance tasks as required
  • Prevent injuries by providing public education, enforcing safety rules and regulations, and responding appropriately in the event of an emergency
  • Ensure that aquatics center is clean and safe by completing required maintenance tasks
  • Maintain a positive work attitude, creating a professional and positive image when dealing with the public
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and complete multiple tasks, while being adaptable to last minute changes
  • Provide exceptional customer service to team and patrons
