Records Management Administrator - Permanent Full-Time

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking an enthusiastic, detailed oriented, positive individual to join our Legislative Services Team. Reporting to the Senior Legislative Officer, the Records Management Administrator will oversee records management for the City of Fort Saskatchewan, including developing, recommending, and implementing the Records Management Bylaw and associated procedures, strategies, retention, and disposal schedules.

This position is responsible for developing training manuals and programs for staff and ensuring compliance of all departments with policies and procedures for the City’s Records Management Program. The Records Management Administrator will conduct training sessions for the departmental users in the operation of new and revised records management systems and act as an ongoing information resource to systems users.

The successful candidate will have a certificate or diploma from, or be enrolled in, a Records and Information Management Program; a certificate or diploma in a related field may be considered. A minimum of three years of experience working in records management administration is required. Working experience with Laserfiche, and in a Municipal environment is preferred. The successful candidate will have strong organization, presentation, verbal and written communication skills. The Records Management Administrator will pride themselves on their professionalism, excellent customer service skills and work well within a team environment.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $63,199 to $74,334 per annum.

Community Social Planning Coordinator - Permanent Full-Time

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a confident, compassionate, motivated individual to join our Family and Community Support Services Team. Reporting to the Director, Family and Community Support Services, the Community Social Planning Coordinator is a strategic thinker, with the ability to move ideas from conceptualization to completion. This position will identify the social issues impacting the community, and will develop strategies to respond to the needs of the community. The Community Social Planning Coordinator will seek to develop community awareness and interest in social programs and services, which involves volunteer initiatives, social strategies, partnership building, asset based community development, social justice and gaps in services. This position is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Community Garden program, assist with the City’s Volunteer Management Program, as well as, management of grant applications for the Shape Your Community Grant Program.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in human services, recreation administration or a related field. A minimum of three years of related experience working with public/municipal service, volunteer management or human services. This person must be familiar with the FCSS Act and be proficient at community networking, political awareness, governance, partnerships and mediation skills. Experience in policy and project management, research management and strategy development in the areas of community and social planning is strongly desired. The ability to communicate constructively in a positive, confident and respectful manner (written and oral) to internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Community Peace Officer Level 1 - Permanent Full-Time
COMP #201940

Reporting to the Supervisor Municipal Enforcement, the Community Peace Officer Level I is responsible for enforcing provincial statutes and municipal bylaws for the City of Fort Saskatchewan and investigating inquiries and public complaints including animal control.

Officers are responsible for traffic safety using conventional traffic enforcement, radar, laser/LIDAR and photo laser enforcement, and driver feedback signs; conduct directed or pro-active bike, foot and vehicle patrols; investigate inquiries or complaints from general public including animal control and animal protection complaints; prepare written reports and court documents; give testimony and present evidence in Court. Community Peace Officers may be deployed to work independently or in teams.

This position requires a minimum of a two year Law Enforcement College Diploma or University Degree in a related field or equivalent experience within the law enforcement field. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in Alberta legislation and municipal laws; Justice System proceedings; and be eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer Level 1 by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General. A minimum of two years’ experience working in Municipal Enforcement or related field is required. Candidates must possess and retain an RCMP enhanced reliability security check; be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Current Radar/LIDAR certification; certification through the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association; knowledge of RCMP protocols and systems; and enhanced authorities granted by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General are considered assets.

The successful candidates must have passed a physical fitness (PARE) test current within the last 6 months. A valid Alberta driver’s license is required and the candidate must be available to work various shifts.

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. A current five year driver’s abstract will be required at the time of interview.

Rate of Pay: $40.08 - $44.04 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, varying shifts (days, nights and weekends)

Revenue Services Coordinator - Permanent Full-Time

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a detail orientated, positive and enthusiastic professional to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Revenue Services Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to a team of unionized accounting and clerical staff in the daily operations and activities associated with property taxes and utility billing; payment collection; cash balancing; and customer relations. This position requires the use of considerable independence, initiative and discretion within established guidelines, and must be able to perform the full range of customer billing and service duties, as required. This position supports the Chief Financial Officer by assisting with various projects including system testing, benchmark reporting and managing internal controls. The Revenue Services Coordinator will provide support in the daily processing of financial transactions and ensure efficient financial controls and procedures are in place.

This position requires an Accounting Diploma or an Accounting Degree, as well as, a minimum 4 years of related accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. Experience in a municipal and/or union environment is an asset. The Revenue Services Coordinator will have proven leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and lead employees. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of accounting standards and processes, cash management, and reconciliations; and be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills.
