Reporting to the Director of Legislative Services, the Senior Legislative Officer works with the Director on the provisions of corporate, legal, and legislative services. This position is responsible for interpreting legislation; tax recovery, contract and document review; and the duties of the Assessment Review Board Clerk, Subdivision Development Appeal Board Clerk, and Deputy Returning officer for municipal elections. It is essential for the candidate to have a strong customer focus with exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. The Senior Legislative Officer will have proven leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and lead employees.

This position requires a minimum of a two year post-secondary diploma in Municipal Government, Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. The successful candidate will have, or be willing to obtain, a National Advance Certificate in Local Government Authorities Administration, and a Commissioner for Oaths certification. An Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate and a Supervision Citation or Certificate are definite assets. A minimum of five years’ experience in a related area in a municipal environment, with three years supervisory experience is required. Experience in Administrative Law, Contract Law or Commercial Law is an asset. The successful candidate will provide strategic advice to the City Manager and Elected Officials in the establishment and acts as a primary liaison for a number of regional stakeholders.

The General Manager of Infrastructure & Planning Services will have a “systems thinking” perspective along with an advanced level of communication and interpersonal skills. This person will be a Champion for the City’s governance process and lead the development of major strategic initiatives while demonstrating high political acumen and diplomacy. This position requires the completion of a post-secondary degree, supplemented with extensive management and leadership training. A minimum of eight years of professional leadership experience at a senior level, as well as, significant knowledge in municipal operations and an advanced understanding of the Municipal Government Act is required.

This is a one year maternity leave temporary position with a tentative end date of January 15, 2020.

The Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department is housed with the Ambulance Service in a modern facility with excellent equipment and apparatus. The Department is a vital component of the Protective Services Section of the City, together with our mutual aid partners contributes to the safety and quality of life in our community. The Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department is a proud member of the Northeast Region Community Awareness Emergency Response (N.R. CAER) Organization.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan paid-on-call Firefighters will respond to fire and emergency calls and participate in educating the community in various aspects of emergency safety. The Firefighter is responsible for completing duties as assigned to support the implementation of effective, efficient and ethical departmental procedures, and to meet the customer service goals and objectives of the Fire Department.

Hours of Work: On-call rotation for 24 hour coverage (7 days week)
Opportunity for Day Crew shifts (after initial training is completed)

  • Provide customer services at the Shell Theatre, Alberta Lottery Fund Art Gallery and Dow Centennial Centre.
  • Supervise events and ensure that users follow all guidelines, rules and regulations associated with the events.
  • Provide leadership for the Shell Theatre Volunteers which include support and assignment of volunteer duties.

Reporting to the DCC Event Supervisor the Shell Theatre Bartender is responsible for providing liquor, pop and coffee service during events. This includes mixing and serving alcoholic beverages, cash handling, customer service, cash reconciliation, concession setup and tear-down and cleaning.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Mix, serve and sell beverages per AGLC regulations.
  • Perform liquor inventory count before and after each event.
  • Clean, restocks and secure the concession at the conclusion of an event.
  • Reconcile cash floats and cash proceeds.
  • Willingness to provide support as Front of House Assistant as needed.

Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age, and have obtained AGLC ProServe Certification. The successful candidates must be able to work well both in a team environment and independently, be positive and courteous individuals, and possess exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. Cash handling and computer experience would be an asset. The ability to effectively deal with intense levels of work for short periods of time during the intermission of an event is essential.
