Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) is provincial legislation which applies to all public bodies. This legislation was put in place to ensure a process is available for the public to access personal information and/or other City records. It also guides how the City collects, uses and discloses personal information.

Submitting a request to access information under the FOIP Act is easy, simply complete the Request to Access Information form (FOIP Request) and submit the $25 application fee, if applicable. Public bodies are legislated to provide a response to applicants within 30 days.

Accessing Video Surveillance Footage

Some municipal facilities have installed video surveillance cameras. When an incident occurs relating to criminal activity, contact the City's Municipal Enforcement or RCMP who may then submit a request for video surveillance footage.

In the event of a safety concern, contact the Director, Legislative Services at 780-992-6200 to determine if a request to view video surveillance footage is applicable.

Depending on the nature of request for video surveillance footage, a Request to Access Information form (FOIP Request) may also be required.
