Victim Services is a team of trained volunteer advocates who work in conjunction with police officers to assist victims of crime or tragedy in the Fort Saskatchewan R.C.M.P. Detachment area.

Victim Services deals with

  • Court Preparation/Assistance
  • Videos/Books/Pamphlets

Volunteer Advocates possess the following characteristics and skills

  • genuine interest in helping others
  • strong communication skills
  • 18 years of age or older
  • good character, mature
  • ability to respect confidential matters
  • good driving record and access to a vehicle
  • ability to commit 5 hours of time per week to the program

Volunteer Advocates receive formal training by community professionals in the following areas

  • interpersonal skills development
  • crisis intervention
  • home security
  • Criminal Justice System
  • bereavement
  • stress management
  • resource agency networking
