2025 Art in Public Places Program Winner to be unveiled Thursday

Celebrating Local Artists

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is set to highlight local artistic talent with the unveiling of this year’s Art in Public Places Program winner. After a competitive selection process, the City is proud to announce the chosen artwork and artist for 2025.

Reflecting on the selection process, Mayor Gale Katchur emphasized the strength of this year’s submissions. “The level of talent in our community continues to amaze me,” said Mayor Katchur. “It’s exciting to see how local artists capture the history and heart of Fort Saskatchewan.”

The Art in Public Places program is a testament to the City’s commitment to arts and culture. By allocating funds annually to acquire public art, the program enriches the community, fosters dialogue, and strengthens local identity. It not only enhances public spaces but also preserves a cultural legacy for future generations. Public art serves as a reflection of Fort Saskatchewan’s values, celebrating heritage, creativity, and community pride.

The winning artwork and artist will be unveiled at the Alberta Lottery Fund Art Gallery in the Dow Centennial Centre on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 7:00 pm. The media and community are invited to attend the unveiling, celebrate the artist, and explore the gallery, which is open weekly on Thursday and Friday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, and during performances at the Shell Theatre.
