City Council approves 2027–2030 Strategic Plan

Fort Saskatchewan City Council has approved its 2027–2030 Strategic Plan, establishing the priorities that will guide municipal decision-making, budgeting, and service delivery over the next four years.

The plan reflects Council’s vision for a community that offers a great quality of life, connects people, fosters innovation, and supports a resilient economy. It will help the City balance current community needs with the opportunities and challenges that come with continued growth.

“Fort Saskatchewan has a strong foundation and a bright future,” said Mayor Lisa Makin. “This plan reflects Council’s shared priorities and our commitment to building a community that is safe, welcoming, financially responsible, and prepared for future growth. It will help us remain focused on what matters most to residents while allowing us to respond to changing circumstances.”

The Strategic Plan identifies four key goals:

Well-Planned Community and Resilient Economy: Supporting thoughtful growth, economic prosperity, community livability and connected green spaces.
Welcoming and Active Community: Strengthening recreation, culture, arts, tourism, community identity and access to programs and services.
Community Safety: Advancing policing priorities, emergency response capacity and the City’s ability to prepare for and recover from emergencies.
Financial and Operational Excellence: Responsibly managing municipal finances, assets, facilities, land and partnerships to support long-term service delivery.

These goals will provide direction for City Administration as it develops business plans, budgets, and programs. They will also help the City prioritize resources and measure progress toward results that matter to residents, businesses, and community partners.
