Coyotes

Seeing or hearing more coyotes lately? Late January through early March is coyote mating season, when they’re more vocal and territorial, especially at dawn and dusk.

Coyotes are attracted to easy food sources like pet food, garbage, compost, and bird seed. If they’re around, it means food or shelter is nearby.

Help keep your neighbourhood safe:

  • Never feed coyotes
  • Feed pets indoors or bring dishes inside right away
  • Secure garbage and compost, and set carts out only on collection day
  • Remove bird seed
  • Supervise pets, leash dogs, and keep cats indoors

By reducing attractants and staying alert, we can help keep coyotes wild and our community safe.

Concerned? Contact Municipal Enforcement at 780-997-7930.

Local artists are invited to apply for the 2026 program. All submissions must be received by 4:00 pm on Monday, February 23, 2026.
