Fort Saskatchewan Celebrates Grand Re-Opening of the Jubilee Recreation Centre (JRC)
The City of Fort Saskatchewan is proud to announce the Grand Re-opening of the Jubilee Recreation Centre (JRC), a long-standing community favourite that has undergone significant modernization. Residents are invited to join the celebration on Monday, June 30, 2025, and see the improvements firsthand.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 11:00 am, followed by light refreshments and facility tours—available both self-guided and staff-led—until 2:00 pm. A Public Open House will follow from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, providing another opportunity for residents to explore the renovated space.
“JRC has always held a special place in the hearts of Fort Saskatchewan residents,” says Mayor Gale Katchur. “This revitalization ensures it will continue to be a welcoming, functional, and safe place for recreation and community gatherings for generations to come. I invite everyone to come take a look—you’ll be impressed by what’s been done.”
What’s New at the JRC:
The JRC modernization project focused on both functionality and accessibility while preserving the building’s legacy. Key improvements include:
- Renovated dressing rooms and expanded changerooms
- Upgraded mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems
- Modernized HVAC and energy-efficient LED lighting
- Accessible design upgrades and refreshed finishes throughout
Visitors to the Grand Re-Opening will have the chance to tour the facility and even enjoy a treat.
This event marks an exciting new chapter for the JRC as it continues to host everything from Fort Rebels lacrosse games starting in July to local skating, rentals, and events.
