Fort Saskatchewan Minor Hockey Receives $3,000 Tourism Hosting Grant for Fire on Ice Tournament
Fort Saskatchewan Minor Hockey has been awarded $3,000 through the City of Fort Saskatchewan’s Tourism Hosting Grant program to support the upcoming Fire on Ice Tournament, a girls’ hockey tournament taking place November 13 – 15, 2026, at all three of the city’s arenas: the Dow Centennial Centre, Sportsplex, and Jubilee Recreation Centre.
The tournament will welcome hockey players, coaches, and families to Fort Saskatchewan for a weekend of competition, bringing visitors to the community and supporting local businesses.
“We’re grateful for the City’s support through the Tourism Hosting Grant,” said Pam Odynski, General Manager of Fort Saskatchewan Minor Hockey. “The Fire on Ice Tournament is a great opportunity to celebrate girls’ hockey and bring players and their families to Fort Saskatchewan for a weekend of competition and connection. We look forward to welcoming the teams and seeing local fans come out to cheer them on.”
Residents are encouraged to attend the tournament, cheer on the teams, and support girls’ hockey while enjoying a weekend of exciting competition.
The City’s Tourism Hosting Grant program provides funding to eligible non-profit organizations hosting events that attract visitors to Fort Saskatchewan. By supporting sporting tournaments and other tourism-focused events, the program helps generate local economic activity while showcasing the community as a destination for sports and recreation.
