Fort Saskatchewan’s Lights Up! Celebration Set to Illuminate the Holiday Season
Kick off the holiday season in Fort Saskatchewan with the highly anticipated annual Lights Up! celebration! Taking place on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 5:15 to 7:30 pm at City Hall, this free, family-friendly event offers an evening filled with festive activities, holiday magic, and community spirit.
The night will be packed with activities for all ages, beginning with pictures with Santa at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library. Families can also look forward to a series of glow shows throughout the evening, starting with a 30-minute roaming performance at 5:30 pm, followed by shorter shows at 6:15, 6:35, and 7:00 pm. Other activities include:
- Caricature art from LC The Draw Guy at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library
- Face painters in the City Hall’s Lang Room
- Costumed characters including the Grinch, Auggie, a reindeer, holly jolly elf, and Elsa and Anna, roaming the indoor and outdoor areas
- Holiday petting zoo and fire pits in the City Hall parking lot
- Fort Saskatchewan Music Festival performers in the City Hall lobby
- Christmas carolers at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library
- Holiday cultural display at Pioneer House, celebrating festive traditions from diverse cultures
- Enchanted Forest debuts
To keep everyone warm and energized, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will be available, generously sponsored by Dow. Gluten-free and nut-free options will be provided.
As the evening draws to a close, attendees will gather at 7:15 pm on the City Hall veranda for a choir performance of holiday carols, followed by a special reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Mayor Katchur at 7:25 pm. The evening will culminate with the Lights Up! countdown at 7:30 pm, illuminating the City Hall grounds in holiday lights.
