Tourism Hosting Grants Support Three Major 2026 Events in Fort Saskatchewan

Three organizations have received support through the City’s Tourism Hosting Grant program to bring exciting sporting and cultural events to the community in 2026.

The City’s Tourism Hosting Grant provides funding to organizations to help attract large-scale events and tournaments that bring visitors to Fort Saskatchewan, creating a positive economic and community impact. Non-profit organizations interested in hosting tourism-focused events are encouraged to apply.

The Tourism Hosting Grant Committee has awarded $3,000 to each of the following organizations:

  • Fort Saskatchewan Ringette for the U10 Championships, taking place March 6 – 8, 2026, at the Dow Centennial Centre, Fort Saskatchewan Sportsplex and Jubilee Recreation Centre.

  • Fort Saskatchewan Youth Basketball for the Fort Court Queens Girls Youth 3X3 Basketball Tournament, scheduled for April 24 – 25, 2026, at the Dow Centennial Centre and local schools.

  • Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association for the Wild Rose Old Time Fiddle Festival and Grand North American Old Time Fiddle Championships, happening July 16 – 19, 2026, at the Shell Theatre inside the Dow Centennial Centre.

“These events bring people together and showcase the pride we have in our community,” said Lisa Makin, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan. “Whether it’s young athletes competing on the court and the ice or musicians taking the stage, hosting events like these strengthens our local economy and highlights Fort Saskatchewan as a welcoming place to visit and experience.”

Residents are encouraged to come out, cheer on participants, and support the volunteers and organizers who make these events possible.
