National Indigenous History Month in Fort Saskatchewan

June is National Indigenous History Month in Fort Sask, a time to learn, listen, connect, and celebrate Indigenous cultures, traditions, and stories.

The community is invited to take part in the remaining events that highlight Indigenous knowledge and lived experience, including:

  • Bannock Making & Medicine Bag Workshop (for youth)
    Thursday, June 11
    3:30 - 6:30 pm

  • Farmers Market Celebration
    Thursday, June 25
    5:00 - 7:00 pm

These events offer opportunities for all ages to engage in meaningful learning and connection throughout June.

Summer Specialty Tours at the Fort Heritage Precinct

Guided themed tours exploring architecture, nature, homes, and true crime.

Step inside historic buildings, explore the river valley, and uncover the darker side of the Fort with a series of Summer Specialty Tours at Fort Heritage Precinct.

Tour themes include:

  • The Modern Flammable Home: Hidden dangers of historic homes
  • Wood & Glass Architecture: Architecture and design secrets
  • Flora & Fauna: Local plants, trails, and traditions
  • Crime Tour (18+): Chilling true crime stories from the “Hanging Town”

Tours take place throughout July and August and run approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Admission is $13 per person (GST included).

Drop-in tours are available, space permitting. Crime Tours require reservations.

Sheep Shack Pop-Up & Plays

Your neighbourhood park just got more playful! Sheep Shack Pop-Up & Plays brings free outdoor, nature-based play experiences to parks across Fort Saskatchewan this summer. Each pop-up offers something different, from creative activities and games to hands-on exploration using natural materials.

Everyone is welcome. Activities are designed with children ages 7+ in mind, but all ages can join the fun. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 14+.

June is Recreation & Parks Month in Fort Saskatchewan

Get active and explore the community with free programs and activities happening all month long, including Aquafit at Harbour Pool, fitness classes and drop-in sports at the Dow Centennial Centre, Pop Up & Plays, and a city-wide geocache hunt from June 1 - 14.

Celebrate Canada Day in Fort Saskatchewan!

Join us July 1 for a full day of free family fun, including the Canada Day Parade, live entertainment, face painting, inflatables, the thrilling Ride the Vibe freestyle stunts, activities for all ages, and a spectacular fireworks show to cap off the evening. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from on-site vendors.

New this year, the Canada Day Parade will follow an updated route through downtown. More details, including the route map, will be available soon.
