Commercial Waste Services for Businesses
The City of Fort Saskatchewan has entered into a new exclusive franchise agreement with GFL Environmental Inc. for all front-load and transitioning Molok bins within city limits. This contract is in effect from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2030.
This agreement is unique to Fort Saskatchewan and is designed to offer bulk pricing that results in significant cost savings for our business community. To maintain fairness and transparency, standardized rates have been set based on bin size and collection frequency, regardless of the size of your business or the volume of waste generated. These rates reflect the best value obtained through a competitive bidding process.

What's New
- New Contract Period: New rates have been established for the GFL contract between May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2030 for all front-load and transitioning Molok bins.
- Price Increases: There will be an increase of 3% every year to accommodate inflation.
- All-Inclusive Rates: Maintenance and a once-a-year bin exchange are included in the specified rates regardless of damage unless otherwise specified.
- On-Board Scales: GFL trucks will now record the weight of each stream (garbage, recycling, organics) at each location. This data will help businesses understand waste generation and diversion. To receive this information on your invoices, please contact GFL at CSREdmonton@gflenv.com.
Collection Schedule & Contact Info
- Collection Hours: 3:00 am to 12:00 pm (7:00 am start for residential areas). Collection outside these hours may occur due to high service demand, weather, or equipment availability.
- Office Hours: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Where Does My Waste Go?
- Garbage: Disposed at Waste Management – Thorhild Landfill in Newbrook, AB.
- Recycling: Sent to GFL’s Material Recovery Facility in Edmonton, where materials are sorted, baled, and sold to recycling markets. Please ensure your bin is free of contamination; rejected bins may result in additional charges.
- Organics: Transported to Roseridge Waste Management Compost Facility. Only compostable materials should be placed in the organics bin to avoid rejection or extra fees.
