Skating Safety

Keep safe - stay off the ponds!

Ponds are primarily for flood control and water quality improvements. Storm water ponds have a constant flow of water, which causes ice to form in unstable conditions over the winter months. The water may not freeze completely solid, therefore all storm water ponds are extremely unsafe for skating.

Visit a safe snowbank rink or outdoor boarded rink that is maintained by the City of Fort Saskatchewan. We recommend that all rink users wear appropriate safety equipment.
