Neighbourhood Rehabilitation
Neighbourhood Rehabilitation is an annual program that ensures that the City's neighbourhood infrastructure meets current standards and is not at risk of failure due to deteriorating conditions. The scope includes:
- Remove and replace water infrastructure (i.e. water pipes, valves, hydrants, services to property line)
- Remove and replace sewer infrastructure (i.e. sewer pipes, manholes, services to property line)
- Remove and replace storm infrastructure (i.e. storm pipes, manholes, catchbasins, swales)
- Remove and replace concrete structures (i.e. sidewalks, curb and gutter)
- Remove and replace road structure (i.e. subgrade, granular base, asphalt)
- Improve traffic safety and walkability if possible
Neighbourhood Rehabilitation is a complex project that occurs in existing older neighbourhoods. Typically these projects will start in May/June and are not completed until September/October.
