Collision Reporting
If you're involved in a vehicle collision in Fort Saskatchewan, it's important to know when and how to report it. This page outlines the reporting threshold, what qualifies for police involvement, and where to go if your collision meets the criteria. Learn what steps to take and how to ensure you're following provincial regulations.
As of January 1, 2024, the Government of Alberta raised the collision reporting threshold to $5,000.
Under these new regulations, drivers are only required to report a collision to law enforcement if any of the following criteria are met:
- The total property damage cost for all parties exceeds $5,000.
- There were injuries resulting from the collision.
- The collision involved a hit-and-run.
Reports can be made in person for collisions that fulfill these criteria at the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Protective Services Building (200 Town Crest Road).
If the collision does not meet these reporting requirements, drivers should proceed as usual by exchanging insurance information and handling the matter through their insurance process.
