The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a range of programs, resources, and support services to help seniors maintain their independence and quality of life. From social initiatives to practical household support, there are many ways for older adults to stay active and connected. Snow Angels Program
Snow Angels is a volunteer snow clearance program to assist seniors with a disability or medical condition in the community.
Applicants must meet an income level requirement and be referred to the program by a family physician, a home care provider, or the Home Support Services program.

Seniors’ Outreach
The Seniors’ Outreach program provides information, referrals, and advocacy to enable seniors to remain as independent as possible while maintaining dignity and quality of life.
Services are free of charge and made accessible through home visits.

Home Support Services
City of Fort Saskatchewan employees provide practical, in-home support services to residents in order to retain and/or improve quality of life through safe, independent living.
Short- or long-term assistance is provided on a flexible basis, with weekly, biweekly, or monthly visits lasting 1–3 hours each. Service is affordable for those on a fixed income.

Caregiver Support
You are a caregiver if you care for an aging parent, spouse, friend, or other person close to you. Connect with other caregivers through the Caregiver Support group.
This group is a safe, confidential space to listen and share. Meetings are on the last Thursday of every month at 1:30–3:00pm at the First United Church (10409 100 Ave).

Seniors’ Week
Seniors’ Week has been recognized in Alberta since 1986. It acknowledges and honors all that seniors have contributed to strengthening our families and communities.
Seniors’ Week takes place during the first week of June. Details about Seniors’ Week events will be provided closer to that time.
Elder Abuse Awareness
Elder abuse is an action or behaviour by a person in a position of trust, such as an adult child, family member, friend, or caregiver—that harms an older adult.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals to Fort Saskatchewan residents who find meal preparation difficult.
Meals are delivered to your door Monday to Friday. Cancellations or changes require 72 hours’ notice (excepting medical emergencies).
