The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a variety of community programs to help residents of all ages lead active, fulfilling, and connected lives. Counselling and Mental Health

DragonFly Support Group

This monthly support group is a safe place for parents and caregivers to share challenges and concerns, learn and grow, and connect with those who are facing similar struggles.

Men’s Shed

Fort Sask Men’s Shed is a place for men to come together, build skills, and form connections. Discover new interests, join a friendly and supportive group, and make a difference in your community.

Blue Monday Comedy Night

The Blue Monday Comedy Special is an annual 18+ event in January to help beat the winter blues. Join us and come together for a night of joy and humour. 

Tickets will be available through Shell Theatre closer to the event date.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week is a time to connect, reflect, and support one another. Join us in May for a week of free events from wellness workshops to fitness classes, all designed to promote mental well-being in our community.

Senior Care

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a range of programs, resources, and support services to help seniors maintain their independence and quality of life.

Caregiver Support

You are a caregiver if you care for an aging parent, spouse, friend, or other person close to you. Connect with other caregivers through the Caregiver Support group.

This group is a safe, confidential space to listen and share. Meetings are on the last Thursday of every month at 1:30–3:00pm at the First United Church (10409 100 Ave).

Elder Abuse Awareness

Elder abuse is an action or behaviour by a person in a position of trust, such as an adult child, family member, friend, or caregiver—that harms an older adult.

This abuse affects adults worldwide, even in our community. Learn how to recognize, respond to, and prevent elder abuse.

Community Support and Volunteer Opportunities

Snow Angels Volunteers

Snow Angels is a volunteer snow clearance program to assist seniors with a disability or medical condition in the community.

City Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to make community connections, gain valuable experience, build up your resume, and give back to your community.

Transportation Support

Transit

Fort Sask Transit (FST) operates local and commuter routes Monday to Friday, including service to Sherwood Park’s Bethel Transit Terminal. No service on weekends or holidays unless noted.

Everyone Rides

Everyone Rides provides a discount on Fort Sask Transit local and commuter monthly passes. Join Everyone Rides by applying for the Access for Everyone program.

Fort Lions Transportation

Fort Lions Transportation Society (FLTS) is a group of dedicated community volunteers who oversee the operation of Accessible & Subsidized Minivan Services.

Financial Support

Access for Everyone Program

The Access for Everyone program provides access to recreation, culture, and City facilities for residents on limited incomes.

Qualified applicants receive up to $200 per person per year (up to 3 adults and 4 children) for facility passes and programs.

Alberta Supports

Alberta Supports provides access to over 30 programs and 120 services for seniors, people with disabilities, job seekers, parents and families, and those experiencing homelessness or needing financial aid.

Youth Support: BGS Career Ventures

BGS Career Ventures supports youth living in northern Alberta who are facing personal challenges and need financial support while completing high school or academic upgrading for post-secondary.

Family Violence Support and Prevention

Family violence is any kind of abusive behaviour within a family setting. No one deserves to live that way. There are dedicated services available to provide immediate and long-term support. Learn more about the many support networks operating in Fort Saskatchewan.

Board Development

The City of Fort Saskatchewan recognizes and values the individuals and non-profit groups who donate their time and talents to help build a strong, engaged community. The City actively works to provide ongoing funding, training, and resources to amplify the influence of these groups and further improve the well-being of residents.
