Notice & Payment

The City mails property tax notices in late May every year. Property taxes are due on or before June 30.

If the property owner does not receive a property tax notice, it is their responsibility to contact the city for their tax information. Not receiving a tax notice (or losing a tax notice) is not accepted as a reason for late payment.

You can also receive your Property Assessment, Taxation Notices, and other taxation communications electronically.

There are a number of convenient ways for you to pay your Property taxes.

Through your Financial Institution (Online, Telephone Banking, or In Person)

  • Make sure you have the proper payee and account number before submitting your payment.
  • Your roll number is your account number.
    • If you have recently moved, the tax roll number will be different than on your previous property. If you own multiple properties, payments must be designated to each tax roll number.
  • Allow a minimum of seven (7) days processing time (keep receipt of transaction to verify payment).
  • You can view your past account transactions online through Virtual City Hall. Use our step-by-step instructions to activate your account.

Through Fort Saskatchewan's Pre-Authorized Payment Plan

The Fort Electronic Payment Plan is a convenient way to pay your taxes and utility bills.

  • You will need your seven-digit tax roll account number to process your payment.
  • To avoid late charges, please allow seven days for receipt of payment.

Late payments

All tax payments are due by the date on the front of your notice. Failure to receive your tax notice does not exempt you from paying taxes on time or from late payment penalties.

With the exception of taxes paid under the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (FEPP), any payments received or postmarked later than midnight on June 30 are subject to the late payment penalties and shall be added to, and form part of the remaining balance.
