Sheep Leaving Parade 2026

presented by Nutrien

It is that bittersweet time of year – the trees change colour and Fort Saskatchewan’s beloved turf-trimming sheep prepare for their journey home. Join us at the Sheep Leaving Parade to bid our woolly friends farewell.

And don't worry, they will be baaack next spring!

Monday, September 7, 2026

11:00 am – Arrive
11:15 am – Opening remarks from the Mayor, and safety brief at the gazebo behind the Warden's House
11:30 am – Sheep Leaving Parade begins
Noon to 1:00 pm – Feed the sheep carrots post parade

In order to make this a safe and fun experience for everyone, including the sheep, please take note of the following attendee expectations:

  • Follow instructions from the handlers, event staff, and volunteers.
  • Avoid sudden movements, loud noises, or actions that may startle the flock.
  • Stay behind the sheep.
  • Avoid running and chasing the sheep.
  • Be aware of uneven ground and animal waste.
  • Dogs are allowed as long as they stay leashed at all times.
  • Photography is welcome, but do not obstruct the participants or animals along the route. You can share photos online by tagging us @CityFortSask
  • Dispose of any unused carrots into the provided organics bins.
  • Dress for the weather. The parade is rain or shine unless severe weather is imminent.
  • Be courteous to fellow attendees, participants, and local residents.

Come for noon to feed the sheep. The City will provide enough carrots for everyone!
