Public Hearings

To allow for new development or redevelopment, Council will consider redistricting applications in order to apply new regulations to a site. All property owners have the right to make an application to change their zoning. Anyone who feels they may be affected by the proposal has the right to voice their opinion through the planning process.

Land Use Bylaw Text Amendment (Bylaw C3-24)

To amend Agriculture General – South (AG-S) District

The City received an application to amend the AG-S District within the City’s Land Use Bylaw. The applicant is proposing to add a “Place of Worship” use as a Discretionary Use in the AG-S District to enable the development of a church on the parcel legally described as Lot: 1A, Plan: 902 0569 (shown in the image below). As per the proposed amendment the “Place of Worship” use shall only be considered on this specific parcel. The parcel is 6.78 ha (17 acres) in area.

Purpose of the AG-S District is to provide for a compatible range of agricultural uses with regulations that maintain large parcel sizes. The reclassification of land to other Land Use Districts will normally occur subsequent to the acceptance of an Area Structure Plan where one is required by Council and subsequent to the approval of the subdivision proposed.

“Place of Worship” means a development, including any meeting halls, used for spiritual worship and related religious, charitable, educational or social activities, but does not include a School. Typical uses include churches, chapels, mosques, temples, synagogues, parishes, convents, and monasteries.
